Morning, my house

Ok, so there are days when I just don't like my house.

It's pretty big, it needs a lot of work and time dedicated to it, to keep it in good order and quite a lot of money. Generally we find that when we've got the money, we don't have the time and vice versa.

One of my biggest bug bears is the garden, it just keeps growing. All the time, non stop. There are days when it just seems like another giant job on top of all the other giant jobs that neeeed to be done.

On the whole, it's just a nice thing to have, and is kind of pleasant. Every now and then, well, it's spectacular!

Like this morning, I wandered down to let the chickens out and was met with this beautiful sight:

At the end of our garden is this field, it was cold and frosty, the sun was just coming up over the horizon and just for a second, a moment, I was dumbfounded by how lucky I am!!!

I have no right to moan. I shall try and remember that in future!

2.1 miles and muddy!

Ok, I am well happy today, because I have broken my first target, Yay!!!!!

2.1 miles of continuous jogging. I know that for any serious jogger, this is a tiny, tiny amount but for me, well, I am really chuffed, especially considering I thought I was going to have a heart attack when I first started!

The other thing I realised about running in the field is that I really, really enjoy getting muddy while I'm running.

So this is my actual perfect moment, the feeling of running through the slush and muck, on a day that you reeeeaaaallly don't want to and actually, despite all the obstacles and crap, achieving your goal.

Morning, again!

Ok, sorry to whoever reads this, but I have to share the most amazing scene that met me this morning, while walking the kids to the bus stop, before my morning run. I know this is almost identical to the pic I posted last week, but this just blew me away:
How amazing is that? It was absolutely mind blowing to see, we were all scooting around in the frosty grass, I felt like a 5 year old again!

When we got to the bus stop, the boys wanted to play in the frost on the telegraph pole. They were giggling like they were drunk, I just had to smile. Oh the joy of being a little boy and finding so much fun in just scratching your name on a frost post...

Old cards

Little kids, along with cats and dogs, love you irrelevant of who you actually are, and the love is absolutely unconditional.

I was looking through my bedside cabinet the other day and stumbled across my stack of birthday and fathers day cards, dutifully supplied by my sons.

I couldn't help but smile while looking through and seeing their little scrawls becoming real words as the years passed before my eyes again.

Words can't describe the pure joy that I felt when I saw this particular envelope, it made me very, very happy.

Simons Cat

For anyone who owns a cat!

Throwing leaves

Do you remember when you were a kid and you could get the most amazing feeling of joy from just running around, or from kicking leaves about and rolling in the muck???

The other day we all went for a walk on Tiptree Heath and the boys had great fun running around, hiding jumping etc. etc.

We were walking through the leaves, kicking some around when I suggested that they throw some in the air.

Why is it fun, why does it instil such a tremendous sense of joy, just to see this picture? I'm afraid I can't answer these questions. What I can say though, is that it brings a big smile to my face to see this picture of the two little horrors!

Randy Pausch

I don't really know what to say to this, it really speaks for itself...
